Personal Biography
Ole A. Peloso, M.D. has lived in Albuquerque since 1940. He graduated from Cornell Medical College and completed a residency in General Surgery at the University of California in San Francisco. Two years followed in the Army Medical Corps, one of which was in Vietnam. He is Board Certified in both General Surgery and Phlebology. Dr. Peloso is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and Member of the American College of Phlebology. He entered the private practice of General and Vascular Surgery in Albuquerque in 1969, joining Albuquerque Surgical Group. His special interest in treating venous disorders began in 1990. In 1998, Dr. Peloso retired from general surgery and began the full-time practice of phlebology with the creation of the Vein Center of New Mexico.

In 2008, Dr. Peloso was among the first group of physicians (phlebologists) to achieve board certification in Phlebology after passing the first ever certification examination offered by the American College of Phlebology, making him a Diplomate of this organization (ABPh). In 2010 he was among the first phlebologists to pass the first (beta) examination offered to achieve the designation Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhS). Dr. Peloso is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as a practicing Phlebologist (vein specialist).
In 2009 and 2010, Dr. Peloso achieved three certifications in conjunction with his specialty, namely Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), and Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).
These achievements demonstrate the broad degree of expertise and proficiency attained in the understanding of ultrasound physics and its clinical application to the diagnosis and treatment of venous disorders. These registries were acquired after having undergone rigorous training and standardized testing. They represent lifetime designations. The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) are the agencies that certify these Registries. Dr. Peloso is a member of both organizations.
